dc.description.abstract	We have evaluated the cross section for the π-+A→π++(Aπ-) reaction in heavy nuclei producing deeply bound π- atom states still unobserved. The cross sections found, although in the measurable range, are only a small fraction of the background from the inclusive (π-,π+) reaction, which makes this experiment not very suited for the investigation of these elusive pionic states.
