dc.description.abstract | Dress of those who joined a sacrifice had to be immaculately pure in a ritual sense. This purity of dress was a major precondition for approaching the divine. Without doubt, stains of blood on clothing of any participant would have to be regarded as a maculation preventing an effective sacrifice. To evade this, the persons in charge of the ritual would employ various precautions and auxiliary means. However, should a mistake or accident have been made, a whole series of counteractions was required about which we unfortunately still know very Little. | en_US |
