| The aim of this article is to understand the relationship between the primordial garden, on the one hand, and Gaia and the origins of the human being, on the other. Taking this hypothesis as a starting point, the mythical, allegorical, symbolic, historical and cultural meanings of the Garden of Eden are analysed. This work is based on Sumerian, Biblical, Greek and Koranic texts as well as their impact on Western artistic and literary culture. Drawing from these sources three basic aspects are analysed: the nostalgia for the lost paradise, the desire to return to paradise in the future and, finally, the conviction that paradise is a state of consciousness upgradeable at any time.Se parte de la hipótesis que identifica el jardín primordial con Gaia y los orígenes del ser humano. Tomando como punto de referencia esta hipótesis, se analiza el significado mítico, alegórico, simbólico, histórico y cultural del jardín de Edén o Paraíso. El trabajo se basa en textos de origen sumerio, bíblico, griego y coránico, así como en la repercusión de estos textos en la cultura artística y literaria occidental. A partir de estas fuentes se analizan tres aspectos básicos: la nostalgia del paraíso perdido, las ansias por recuperar ese paraíso en un futuro y, por último, la convicción de que el paraíso es un estado de conciencia actualizable en cualquier momento. | |||
