dc.description.abstract This essay aims at identifying the main contributions of feminist historiography to the debate on biography and on the theoretical and methodological issues it raises for the writing of History. Some of the issues in which its contribution has been and is crucial for the writing of History are: understanding biography as an ideologically and socially situated practice, admitting the connection between biography and autobiography, taking seriously the historicity and complex relationship between «public» and «private», and conceiving the self as multiple, mobile and inserted in relation networks. En este artículo se trata de identificar cuáles han sido las aportaciones de la historia de las mujeres y del género a las cuestiones suscitadas por el enfoque biográfico en algunos de los debates teóricos y metodológicos cruciales de la historia. La comprensión de la biografía como una práctica social e ideológicamente situada, el reconocimiento del vínculo entre biografía y autobiografía, el planteamiento de la profunda historicidad y la compleja relación entre «público» y «privado», o la insistencia en un concepto del yo complejo y móvil, inscrito en redes de relaciones, son aspectos en los que su contribución ha sido esencial.
