Introduction: In the field of Forensic and Le gal Medicine, the estimation of age is a matter of growing interest, which is part of the complex process of human identification. There are many methods based on the evaluation of dental and bone development . Objectives: To know which records obtained or used in the dental clinic are useful to determine the actual age (EC) of a patient. Point out the importance that these records could have as the only method to know the real age of a person. Determine which of the methods available is most accurate when e stimating a patient's chronological or actual age. Material and method: bibliographic search was made in different database on methods and techniques historically used to date for the calculation of the estimate of the age of a n individual. Conclusions: Th ere are many methods that can be used for the determination of EC by studying records obtained or used in the dental clinic. To choose the most appropriate method we will have to attend to the individual characteristics of the subject as the ethnic origin, taking into account that in many occasions it is convenient to use the combination of more than one method in order to reduce the error.
