Osteoid osteoma located in the hand is a rare clinical entity that is often confused with other bone diseases such as osteomyelitis, enchondroma or intraosseous epidermoid cyst. At the level of the hand, the diagnosis is not always obvious, given that the clinical and radiographic findings are usually unusual. Definitive treatment usually requires surgical resection of the lesion by curettage or block excision. We describe the clinical case of a 16-year-old adolescent patient with an osteoid osteoma of uncommon location at the level of the proximal phalanx of the thumb and without the clinical and typical radiographic appearance of the same, which made it difficult to diagnose it, as well as the definitive treatment carried out and its results |
