dc.description.abstract	This study shows the kind of woman that Sebastián de Covarrubias Orozco portrays in his Emblemas morales(1610). After a brief introduction and presentation of the author and his work, taking into account the different emblems in which a woman appears, this article studies women in general and, especially, their situation as nubile or married women, emphasizing the institutions of marriage and motherhood, with particular attention to women's participation in the education of their children; the last two sections focus on love as a passion and on beauty, respectively.
