Sudden Death is defined as a fatal, unexpected and non-traumatic event that occurs within the first few hours of the onset of symptoms in an apparently healthy person. Cardiovascular disease is the first cause of death due to noncommunicable diseases worldwide. Of non-traumatic sudden deaths, approximately 90% are the result of cardiovascular diseases. In Argentina it is estimated that in 2015, 71,893 people died in the country due to cardiovascular disease. In the United States, sudden death of cardiovascular origin accounts for 300,000 deaths per year and in the European Economic Community, about 400,000 deaths per year. Sudden death is a public health problem worldwide and advances in the knowledge of arrhythmias, ischemic heart disease and heart failure would allow to establish prevention strategies, risk staging and treatment, so as to define the real scope of the problem and its incidence at the regional level is a primary objective for public health. The objective of the present work was to know the cases of sudden death due to cardiovascular pathology in the province of Santa Cruz.
