dc.description.abstract	This article offers a general overview of cohabitation in Portugal. It analyses the legal definition of cohabitation and the requirements of its legal effects. The author claims that cohabitation should be regulated according to the right of individuals to choose the way to live their own life, that is constitutionally protected in Portugal. Furthermore, it questions about the intervention of the legislator, mainly if it not excessive in the field of family home protection.	es
