This paper begins with some statements of Don Federico de Castro on the history of Spanish Civil Law that broadly coincide with the doctrine of the best civil legal historians, even the recent ones. The present work focuses on the nuanced defense of the unification of Civil Law made by Professor De Castro. Then the author of the paper provides an insight into De Castro?s ideology. The meaning of the conclusions of the Congress of Aragonese Jurisconsultations of 1880-1881 and the Foral Appendix of 1925 are also explained. Lastly, the author recalls the Congress on the Foral Rights of Zaragoza that took place in 1946. The paper concludes with an evaluation of the lucid but almost unanimously forgotten forecasts offered by De Castro about the desirable implementation of the ideas or conclusions reached in the aforementioned 1946 Congress. |
