This article focuses on the role of social capital and anti-utilitarian theories in the context of adaptation to climate change. International institutions and governments recognize the value of relational assets and the collective capacity building of communities to fight the climate crisis. However, there is a technocratic praxis that frustrates participatory efforts. In this way, participation is more a rhetorical exercise than a real one. Adaptation to climate change, which decisively affects social, political and economic cohesion, is considered a technical problem and does not include the social aspects that are part of the relationship between society and the environment. |
