dc.description.abstract Molecular engineering driven by the Epoxide Route facilitates the straightforward synthesis of hybrid layered CoII hydroxides covalently functionalized with dicarboxylic molecules. An unexpected modification on the magnetism that solely depends on the parity of the organic linker is reported. The acute changes in the spontaneous magnetization, from ca. 15 K to 60 K for odd and even hybrids, respectively, paves the way towards a new level of tuning in the magnetism of layered hydroxides. es_ES
