We have to bear in mind that human rights treaties have been adopted by international organizations, which have developed their own practice regarding both the succession of States as Members of an international organization and the succession of States as Contracting Parties to treaties that the United Nations, the Council of Europe or the European Union have adopted in the field of human rights.
