| Hieracium protoconquense is a validly published name in 2016 for which some years later the authors themselves indicated that there is an error in the holotype mentioned in the protologue. However, there is no provision in the International Code of Nomenclature (Shenzhen Code) for a name, once validly published, to cease to be because of some later discovery regarding, for example, type deposition. On the other hand, as the name H. protoconquense is explicitly cited as a synonym in the protologue of H. catalanolanatum, H. catalanolanatum is clearly a superfluous and illegitimate name. | |||
